Wedding Prayer

August 8, 2024

Father God our creator , we praise you and give you thanks for the gift of love . We have the capacity to love because You have love us first by giving your son Jesus Christ to us. It is from this highest redemptive, sacrificial love from you that we learn to love unconditionally.

We thank you for the love between Gian and Rea We pray for the blessing of their union as they celebrate their wedding today. Bless oh Lord the family that they have started.. May they have a deep relationship with you , that they may glorify you and that blessings upon blessings be with Rea and Gian and to their child Lily and to the future children and grandchildren. And when their hairs turn into grey , they still hold hands and will still say thank you Lord for the gift of love and the life well lived having each other.

Nanay

I smile everytime I remember my mother who has gone to heaven several years ago.I smile every time I remember how she answered me when I was looking for things inside the house, like “nanay where is the broom ? or the umbrella. … or ….(anything)” she would always answer “maybe it is with Wada why don’t you ask her? Wada is a chinese merchant selling all kinds of stuff in our town. I can’t understand why the foolish answer to my very serious question. Then she would say ” that is the disadvantage of living in a mansion , you cannot easily find your things” But our house is a small nipa hut in the middle of the coconut farm. Oftentimes her auto answer is “use your eyes and not your mouth”. After half a century, those crazy answer will no longer annoy me had my mother been alive today and anwer me foolishly , in fact I will find those words amazing. What I learned , I learned how to find humor in stressful situation.

UCCP South Bicol Conference Mission House

Going back to this place makes me feel nostalgic. For others, this is just a building -The UCCP SBC Mission House . But for me, this was a home for my eldest daughter and her friends in elementary school 13 years ago. The same warm and accomodating people manned the place. Thanks to Noah and Merlin.

The UCCP SBC is a stone throw away from Albay Central School where my eldest daughter graduated. The place serves her 2nd home for 6 years. My daughter and her friends ate their lunch, left their things and played here while waiting for their parents to fetched them. For working mother like me, the convenience that this place had given me is so much. Thanks to the then Conference Ministers Lola Pas, and Pastor Olea for giving us a space for 6 long years,.The building has tremendous changes but the same warmth and love remains in UCCP South Bicol Conference.

Remnants

During my younger years until college , I thought our President only vacate office when he dies. From primary to high school , our teachers would require us to memorize the full name of our president , his wife, his children, and the head of different Ministries . It is only in college where I learned that we had a congress and senate which was abolished and replaced by Batasang Pambansa.

I was young and never cared about politics , I thanked the government for giving me COCOFED scholarship in high school. Little did I know that coco levy makes us very poor. Had coco levy not imposed on small farmers, my parents can also afford to send me to High School. Only this time that I realized we were just used by the government then to show to the small farmers like us , hey we help you, we give scholarship to your children , so it’s okay if I impose coco levy, and I give the monopoly of coconut industry to my friend and dummy.

That was past , we cannot undo it, but the saddest thing of all is, it is happening again in this time, and many people are happy being fooled and robbed. Blind followers abound.

A Parent Testimony on Baccalaureate

Good morning everyone

We praise and thank God for leading us to enroll all our children here in Naga Hope Christian School. Our two grown up children were graduates here, our eldest is already working, our 2nd child is now in 4th year college and now our youngest is in Grade VI.

We have been here since 2005. I can say that in terms of academic excellence , Naga Hope Christian school is at par or even better than big schools in Naga City. I can vouch for that because our two older children who were graduates here were good in college.

We are thankful to this school for helping us parents in teaching christian values. That is so important to me and I feel confident that because of the Godly principles that were instilled in the minds of our children , they cannot be easily swayed by the world. Specially this time when lies is believed to be the truth and truth is so adulterated.

We would also like to thank all the teachers of my son from nursery to grade six, and to our principal Mam Lei, for being understanding and considerate to my son. Ric is almost always absent during exam days due to his chronic cyclic vomiting syndrome which was diagnosed when he was 2 years old, now he is 11 and he had been hospitalized 29 times already and most of his hospitalization falls on either a week before the exam or during the exam. Thank you to the teachers who were very considerate in giving my son special exam. Thank you also to Ric’s friends who helped him by lending their books and notebooks so that he can catch up with his lessons. To all of you, thank you very much. Praise God for Naga Hope Christian School, a nurturing and caring school. Thank you

God bless You

Looking back , I praise God for giving us wisdom on how to raise our precious children. Looking at how you become , I praise Him more and thank Him for giving me a loving daughter, beautiful fine lady, who cannot be easily swayed by the world, who is intelligent enough to differentiate a truth from a lie, who follows Godly principle and has a deep sense of spirituality without trumpeting around like a pharisee .

On your 25th birthday, I wish you all the best . May God grant you the desires of your heart. Continue to abide in Him and blessings upon blessing be yours.

God bless you. Happy birthday. β˜ΊπŸŽ‚πŸ’˜πŸ’˜πŸ’˜

Im Counting My Blessings Today

Thinkstock

My favorite Sunday School song was Count your Blessings …here’s one line that had etched in my memory and I still hum it today “count your blessings name them one by one , count your blessings see what God has done.”

As I count my blessings , I thank the Lord for the gift of life, of time, of family and friends, of people and institutions who have impacted my life, of opportunities and challenges of material things . Oh they are so numerous and I cannot even name them one by one (I’ll try next time)

One of my life’s greatest blessing are people who in one way or another had influenced my life and made me who I am.

I am forever grateful to God for my family : my loving husband and awesome children, you are the reason why I am doing the best I can and always hoping and looking for a bright future.

For my workplace family. We spent longer hours in the office than we spent time with our respective homes, but because of great relationship we had , we enjoy the corporate world and the burden of heavy work volume becomes lighter.

I also thank God for my long time friends . I smile every time I think of you and our memories decades ago and of the many memories we will still make.

For my friends and travel buddies . We will travel more as long as we are able to climb stairs, line at the airport for hours and enjoy all the buffet meals even with prescription drugs on hand

To all my family, friends and colleagues who greeted me today on my birthday , you made my day extra special thank you

Generosity Amidst Poverty

My meditation on 1 King 17:7-16

If I am in the shoes of a widow with barely a handful of wheat and little drops of oil in my cupboard and there’s a famine in my country, would I still give a portion of my food to a stranger? honestly I’m not sure if I can.

Why am I not sure of my response ?Why I may not respond like the widow in Zarephath?

When God told Elijah “go to Zarephath, I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food” Elijah obeyed God. But why a widow? Why not a public official who always have excess food on their table.

Elijah is a prophet of God . This is his instruction to the widow on verse 13 “Dont be afraid , go home as you have said But first make a bread for me from what you have then make something for yourself and your son”

And this is the promise v 14..”For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel , says”The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry”

And the story told us that God fulfilled his promise.

Why dont I have faith like a widow in Zarephath? When God told me in his words in Malachi to give and test Him and He will open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessing I cannot contain. I believed His word. I hope I’ll be obedient like the widow, practising generosity amidst poverty..and abundance will follow
