Personally I do not approved this kind of relationship, but my cousin persistently tells me shes okay with it, and shes in love. I doubt it , but to support her finding her forever here I am with my cousin in the airport.

I dont know but I cannot imagine myself falling in love with someone whom I have not personally have time together . But who am I to judge?. Love is someting so powerful that cannot be hindered by cultural, religious, social differences. I just wish you luck my dear cousin Rossel .

Korean Visa for Philippine Passport Holder

Thanks to our niece Emma for submitting our papers to the Korean Embassy and for claiming our Visa. We are 9 in a group , 7 are employed and 2 business owners. All of us were approved. In our experience its not really difficult to get Korean Visa if you have complete papers. Also, we had an invitation from a Korean (wife of our nephew), for their wedding in Korea. This also add to our papers which I think add merits to our qualification as tourist in Korea.

Here are some tips in getting visa in South Korea, this is based on our experience. Visa Requirement for employed and businessman

What we observed

1.Korean Embassy is not strict as to the amount of money you have in a bank. I only have 50k ph pesos outstanding balance and my average daily balance is only 20k. Its my payroll acct, money comes and go quickly

2 Review all the papers before submitting. Two of our companion’s paper were returned because the Certificate of employment does not include the landline number of the employer and the other one submitted an Income Tax Return which is not a year immediately preceeding the date of filing for Visa .

3. Go to the Korean Embassy early before 8 am , many Filipinos love to travel to Korea specially the young, maybe an influence of Korean Novela being aired in the Philippines

4. Be aware of Korean Holidays , their embassy is close These are the holidays in SoKor

We realise that what you need to prove is that you dont have a reason to overstay in SouthKorea or to reside illegally because you are gainfully employed or has a business that is doing good in the Philippines By the way the Visa is free if your travel is less than 60 days. We avail of the promo ticket even without the visa yet

Jollibee

Jollibee is a household name in the Philippines. A home grown company to compete a worldwide known fastfood McDonald. Every Filipino , kids and adult regardless of social status knows Jollibee.

The dance move of the mascot never fails to amuse the kids.

Although the food is average. Actually my spaghetti taste better according to my husband. The food is not something to crave for but all outlets are packed with customers specially on weekends. Ahh the power of good marketing.

Ninang speech

When my inaanak told me to deliver a message during her wedding I refuse. Nahihiya ako. Hondi ako sanay. But I still prepare this speech just in case tawagin ako. But I silently pray sana hindi. So here is my prepared speech

Good morning po sa gabos. Its an honor and privelege to be your Ninang Noel and Mae. I would like to start my message by reading the words from a wise man, his words can be found in Proverbs 19:14 , in Bicol version. “Namamana sa mga magurang an harong asin kayamanan alagad hali sa Kagurangnan an maray na agom” So I congratulate you Noel and Mae for having each other. You inherit each other from the Lord.

Si Mae kaibahan mi yan sa office since 2012. So bistado mi siya na maboot ,bako paraiwal and will be a good wife and mother. Bako siya reklamador saka bako maiwal. So harayo saiya an maging nagger. Dpisil maka agom nagger . Sabi sa Proberbs 21:19 ” Its better to live in a corner of the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome wife” other translations say “nagging wife”

Si Noel po nabisto mi siya garo a year ago kan tg bisita si Mae sa offis. Our impression is that is a good man and he will be a good husband to Mae and a father to their children. Kan nagparaam siya sako na sa ofis siya ma propose excited kami sa preparation. Medyo na surprise man gayod kato si Mae.

My advice to you Noel and Mae, keep the love always alive, be ready to forgive, Dont make a make records of wrong.

I would like to end my message with the following words from an an author

To keep the love brimming

With love in the loving cup

Whenever you are wrong , admit it

Whenever you are right shut up

The Red Daster

This happened very long time ago but the red daster (a comfortable loose dress used at home mostly by older women) that my teacher lent me one rainy day is still vivid in my mind. In 1973 I was in grade 2, during those times life was simple. Our school and our community was very remote from the city. The roads were dusty during summer and muddy during rainy months

Only few pupils have umbrellas, mostly pupils used the” sayap,” a big brim hat made of anahaw leaves that resembles that of a vietnamese hat. But for the poorest kids like us we used banana leaves

Heavy rain poured one day while on my way to school. My banana leaves was torn by wind so I entered the classroom with my hair dripping and my clothes with mud. My grade 2 teacher was ready for that. She always had a towel, daster, soap, 1st aid kit in the classroom. She told me to take a bath, lent me towel and her red daster. Then I wash my clothes and hang it outside when the rain stops

So I attended in my grade 2 class wearing my teacher’s red daster which lenght is more than a gown to me. My school mates laughed as I played in the school corridor in my teachers daster during recess.

For me she is the best school teacher I ever had. Thanks Mam Socorro Abad , my Grade 2 teacher in Tierra Nevada Elementary School

A day in Court

Sleepless nights imagining what would the lawyer of the opposing party would ask me. I reviewed all the records available, recomputed everything. In my mind this is so technical, how would I made them understand ledgers, rediscounting of notes, amortization and every thing

Our lawyer: I am presenting to you my witness Ms… on the case of bla bla bla she will testify on the records of bla bla bla ….and the unpaid amount of bla bla(turned to me) I am presenting to you a signed Judicial Affidavit , do you recognized whose signature it is?

Me: yes mam its my signature mam

JUDGE: any cross ?

Opposing lawyer: none your honor

Judge: do you have a record of payment S .B to N coop

Me: none your honor

Judge : okay you may now go..

Thank God

Next witness will be presented next month . Goodluck

Father of all lies

Who is the father of all lies? let the scripture describe him

John 8:21

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and a father of all lies.

Now , what would we do if the leader of our nation is a son of the father of all lies? When a person in authority constantly lied and with out any remorse , blatantly told us in public. “I lied, I intentionally lied”.. And his purpose of lying is to make the person opposing him appear bad. His purpose is to deceive many people. And the worst thing is he had done this several times and his fanatic follower keep on applausing , praising him, making him like god, an incorruptible being.

What would we do in gloomy times like this? When should the truth comes out? When would the fanatics open their eyes and see the deceptions?

Truth is the opposite of Lie. And the Father of Truth surely will defeat the Father of Lies. In due time..

Bicol River

My officemate was brutally killed in 2010. His body was found floating in Bicol River. It is still an unsolved crime after 7 years.

Here is a poem dedicated to Marlon Reyes written by Bicolano poet. This poem was a finalist entry in Premyo Tomas Arejola

PARA KAY MARLON

written by Rea R

Malayo man ang mararating ng mamang nakapikit.Walang hahadlang , at hindi na makakapit

Sa alon ng tubig, at kapalarang malupit. Payapang mga ulap ay kantang mapait.

Wala man maka alam sa kanyang sinapit.

Tikom man ang bibig at nagpapakabait. Ilalahad pa rin ng hangin ang kuwentong sukbit

The art of Day Dreaming

Im sitting in a room attending a seminar on technical matters that concerns my profession. I was hoping I can learn something new, although my main reason of attending is compliance to the continuing education mandated by our government regulatory body.

When you know the things being discussed because you do it everyday , what would you feel? It could be a very boring day, but I discovered something that I can do and enjoy the day . I sit infront , look straight to the speaker pretending to be attentive but with my mind shut off to the topic being discussed . My mind wander to my favorite things like swimming in a turquoise water in El Nido , climbing the 700 steps in Mt Tapyas in Coron, eating to my hearts content in a buffet in Portugese restaurant , enjoying the tricks of magicians in Macau, price haggling in the night market in Hongkong , watching sunset at Boracay, island hopping in Caramoan. eating street food in Seoul. oh Ive been to many places in a matter of 8 hrs , and Then I heard the speaker say “thank you for attending the seminar I hope you learned something new. ” What !! Im doing it for more than a decade

This is the result when some government regulation like renewal of a professional license requires so many numbers of training hours , ill grab every seminars available to meet the 80 hrs even if the topic is my daily routine in the office. Anyway it is a nice feeling to daydream in the midst of many people..am happy to find a new escape…daydreaming

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

When we were in a group tour in Singapore one of the destination was the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple located in Chinatown

Taken outside the temple

There are offering plates lined up in the table outside the temple.

Inside the temple , at the ground floor is the worship place

At the left side of the temple are multicolored glass candle holder

We witness the prayer time of the buddhist

Some of the statues of Buddha

At the 2nd floor is the museum. The story of budda is displayed. The Naga protected Buddha caught my attention, because we are from Naga CamSur Philippines

I like the intricate design of the altar

I admire our guide in his passion about buddhism. Being raised in a christian home this is the first time I entered in other religious building. He explained to us eloquently his religion and answered our questions very well. I hope I am as zealous as he is about my own faith.

Ark Avilon Zoo

Where to go on long weekend if you are in Metro Manila and the rain is unpredictable? Try the Ark Avilon Zoo located at Frontera Verde , Pasig. It is not the usual zoo, its an indoor zoo, so rain or shine you can visit the place. The building is a two story with the design of an ark liken to the Noah’s Ark of the Bible. Since the place is small there are only few animals. But its still worth the visit.

Jenny the orangutan is the star in the zoo. She loves to pose for a picture with the guest

The white snake sleeps all day in the bench. I think its scary if it crawls since it is not in the cage.

My son loves feeding the rabbits

The birds with diffferent colors, they just sit on this tree all day long.

Natural Insect Repellant

Dengue is a disease caused by mosquito bites. It can lead to hospitalization and sometimes its fatal. Prevention is better than cure, getting rid of mosquitos before it rings dengue to humans is the best option. But chemical insect repellant are hazardous to the environment so people nowadays are going organic. Thanks to the Salamat Doc tv program of abscbn for this recipe.

Harbourview Hotel Macau

Harbourview Hotel Macau is located at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf , Dr. Avenida Sun Yat Sen Macau.

Upon arrival at the Macau Ferry terminal , we were looking for the van or bus transfer to Harbourview . There were about 10 lanes with the name of the hotel in it but theres no bus going to Harbourview Hotel. Thanks to the lady who advised us to look for the Babylon Casino. Thats the casino in Harbourview or we can opt to ride a bus going to Sands, which is just accross the Harbourview

While on the busgp we were guessing that maybe the hotel is cheap and old because the people we met who are offering tour guide service hardly know the place. But when we reached the hotel we were totally surprised. Woww!!! the lobby is grand. And the staff are kind and welcoming.

The room is luxurious and clean. Furniture design -classical

I love this table. I started to dream of my future working table to be like this. No clutter, no backlogs, and maybe no exact address.. could be anywhere in the world. Lol

the see through bathroom

The toiletress is of good brand..l’occitane

So nice to dip in the warm jacuzzi

An early morning swim. The pool is all ours. Had a great time here with my friends

After swimming we had our breakfast. The food is good and there are plenty of choices

Check that nearby attraction just 5 minutes walk from the Harbourview, the ruins of a Roman Amphitheatre..remember Macau was once a colony of Portugal

This is the whole view of Harbourview Hotel taken from the car park of Sands, we really have to walk accross the street to have that picture lol

From the Sands we have a free ride to the Venetians. One thing good in Macau is the free rides from Casino to Casino .

We stayed in Harbourview hotel for 3 nights and we will stay here again next time

Instant Gratification

My personal meditation on the story of Esau Genesis 25:30-34, Hebrew 12:14-17

Esau was so shortsighted. Trading his birthright for a single meal was a very foolish decision. No amount of tears can undo what has been done.

There’s an Esau in me that I need to drive away. Sometimes , in my hurry to satisfy the present , I sacrificed my future. Nasa huli ang pagsisisi

Bohol Beach Club

We are on a budget when we travelled to Bohol but it did not hinder us from experiencing the luxurious resort in Panglao- the Bohol Beach Club. How did we do it ? We went there on the month of July when there are only few guest.

Early morning about 5 am, we rode a tricycle from downtown Bohol and paid only 300 pesos for our 2 way fare for 2 person . Then we ate breakfast in the restaurant along the beach for only 350 pesos each. The entrance is free at that time. We are on a day trip only. Overnight stay is very expensive. What we only need is a good beach, a white powdery sand with shallow and calm waters where we can swim.

The beach is all ours

Will you give me a drink?

My personal meditation on John 4:7-10 NIV

  • When a Samaritan woman came to draw water , Jesus said to her ” will you give me a drink?”
  • The Samaritan woman said to Him.”You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman . How can you ask me for a drink?(For Jews do not associate with Samaritans)

Why would Jesus ask from a Samaritan woman for water when Jews do not associate with Samaritans?

To ask help from a friend is a natural thing to do, but it takes so much humility to ask help from a stranger more so with an enemy. So maybe Jesus is teaching me here “humbleness ”

Jesus the ever powerful who multiplied the bread and fish can absolutely get water from the well without the help of the Samaritan woman. But he still said ” Will you give me a drink?” Jesus is teaching me the need for service to others . The importance of helping others who is in need regardless of their cultural background and religious beliefs

Also, He wants to reinforce his teaching about “love your enemy” if the Samaritan woman willingly give him water ,then thats showing love to her Jewish enemy

Traditions, practices, biases handed down from generation to generations affects our perceptions and decisions. Had it not been for the long time feud between the Jews and the Samaritans, maybe the woman would not hesitate to immediately give Jesus water, but instead she asked why do you ask water from me when you are a Jew.

  • Jesus answered her”If you know the gift of God and who is it that asks you for drink , you would have asked him and he would have given you living water

Jesus revealed himself to the woman by making her aware of her need for a fountain of living water that never runs dry. That verse strikes me most.

Like a samaritan woman,I am also a sinner. I also need that living water. I need the living water that never runs dry.

A living water that is not stagnant, a living water that is flowing and make plants bear fruit. A living water that would quench my thirst and heal my spiritual dehydration

Spelunking with my 5 year old son

It was summer 2012 when our family went to Caramoan for a vacation. We stayed in my friend’s house and she told us to visit the cave in their place. The cave is located in Tabgon Caramoan, Camarines Sur. At that time it is not yet popular, very few know that there exist a cave at the foot of the mountain in Sitio Bariis. And it is closed to the tourist because of some land dispute between the local govt in Barangay and a private owner. Its good that my friend Cyrene -our host, knows both parties so we were able to visit the cave.

After lunch we rode a tricycle then walk along coconut and rice plantation, about 30 minutes walk

then we crossed the shallow river,

Then walked again . Another 30 minutes of hiking, until we reached the foot of the mountain

We are accompanied by my friend Cyrene and the 2 locals who brought flashlights and serves as our guide.

This is the entrance of the cave , my son was so excited while I am little bit nervous

Inside the caves are beautiful formations of stalactytes and stalagmites, it is clean , no traces yet of people exploring the place. It has a shallow creek with story of an enchanted shrimp. We saw several shrimps in large sizes but every body was afraid to get one. It is believed. by the locals that a fairy takes care of the cave that if anyone gets something from it he will get sick or might die.

The sight inside the cave is stunning

The challenging part is in going out of the cave . We climb to get out. Its slippery. Thanks God no untoward incident happened. That was a risky adventure, spelunking without proper gear, not even a helmet. And with my 5 year old son. How irresponsible mother I was.Now my son is already 10, he already remember that adventure and he wants to do it again. Now this time we will do it again with all the precautions and with proper spelunking gear

The Power of Prayer

Once again I have witnessed that Jesus is our healer . He is not only our savior and Lord. He is also our great physician of all times.

My niece was declared critical by the doctors in Bicol Medical Center Naga City because of dengue. She had a high fever , and when her fever subsided her platelete count is only 22 . She was declared by the doctor as “critical ” condition and is under observation for 48 hrs. Its her 2nd day in the hospital .From day 1 of her confinement ,pastors of her local church visited her and prayed for her healing . I also prayed for her at home . Even my 10 year old son prayed for her. Her parents, her church , prayed for her. Im so glad and in awe at the power of faith and prayer , at how Jesus healed my niece in her serious illness. After 24 hrs the doctor told her she can now be discharged in the hospital , her platelete is now normal , she is now well. We are all so happy and thankful that Jesus healed her. We thank the doctors for being an instrument in healing her. Shes now well and she can go home now. Praise and thanksgiving to our Lord and Saviour, our healer, Jesus Christ.

The 10 Simple Secrets to Becoming debt free

I’d like to share the tips from the book How to become Debt Free published by Lighthouse

Ive been struggling for years in getting out of debt. With so much hope this can help me and those in the same situation as mine. So Im sharing this.

1. Make a commitment , NO new consumer debt

2. Reduce cards collection to one card only

3. Remove the temptation from your wallet

4. In place of credit card use debit card

5. Make a hit list of all your creditors. Write down each creditor’s name, the balance you owe, the interest rate and the minimum monthly payment

6. Prioritize your hit list for pay down. Pay the most expensive debts first or the smallest balance first, for a big psychological and emotional boost

7. Sell something this weekend. What do you have sitting around that you can sell.? All of us have too much stuff

8. Assign a monthly payment to each creditor, more than your minimum required payment

9. Make each payment faithfully and on time

10. As each debt is eliminated , shift your total monthly payment from the “eliminated creditor to the next creditor on your hit list

Ive done the no 1, work in process for no 2. No 7 is not for me. I dont have so much stuff. I’m positive I can do it with small steps until I can finally come out from the revolving door of debt.

Universal Studios Singapore

Wanderer's avatarthe fatfeet

The Universal Studios in Singapore is a theme park located within the Resorts World Sentosa. This was our second day (Aug 28, 2016) on our tour hosted by Dreamtrips. The temperature at that time is like summer in the Philippines, 39°c, and we were glad we were on our most comfortable outfit-cotton shirt, shorts and sandals. A bottle of water was provided by our host from which we saved 3 SGD each.

We had a less than an hour travel from Holiday Inn Atrium at Outram road to Resorts World and this is the view approaching Sentosa. Sorry for the thumb.

Inside the resorts world are lots of dining options and shops of good brands. I was again a kid with these stores.

Ā This picture was taken near the gate of Universal Studios. I think it’s best to see the fountain at night. Notice that cute and multicolored merlion.

Triggers of cyclic vomiting syndrome

When you have a cyclic vomiting syndrome it is very important to know what triggers your attack in order to avoid them as much as possible. Based on my experience as mother of a son who suffers from cyclic vomiting syndrome for 10 years now, the following are the triggers

Food: chocolate

Activities: too much of watching tv or computers games, school activities, school exams

Sickness also triggers cvs like cough and cold, asthma, headache, tonsilities, fever, constipation

While some of the triggers like food and watching tv can be avoided, others are imposible to avoid like school exam. Several of my son’s hospitalization was during exam days.

Mistaken powerful shield from God

1st Samuel 4:1-11

Why were the Israelites defeated during their war with the Philistines when the covenant box was with them?Because the trust of the Israelites during their fight with the Philistines was not on the living God who gave them the covenant but on the Ark of covenant , they treated the ark of the Covenant as an amulet.

Let it be a reminder to me that the living God whom we Christians believed is a spirit that does not dwell on things made by human hands.

Outward symbols of faith like the church, temples, worship places, crucifix, scapular, images, can not save me from danger. Its only my faith in the living God thru Jesus Christ his son , that I am secured.

2017 Bicol Business Week

This is the best Bicol Business Week celebration in so far as Agri fair booth was prepared and the choice of location. During the past years, the booth was either in the Rizal Park or in the grounds of SM city . Today its inside the mall . And the display , wow.. . I love the design and display on the booth showcasing the Bicol agri products , very artistic.

I never thought the lowly kamote can be displayed that beautiful

“Go home and plant kamote” during our time , thats the favorite insulting words of a public school teacher whenever a grade schooler cannot give the right answer during class recitations. Now planting kamote no longer equates low intellegence nor poverty, there’s money in planting kamote , better than a minimum wage earner perhaps.

The products of each province

Palay for Cam Sur

Pineapple for Camarines Norte

Abaca for Catanduanes

Pili for Sorsogon

Cattle for Masbate

And kamote for Albay

And Pili for the entire Bicol

Congrats to those who are involved in the preparation of the agri fair booth.

Relestal for stomach ache

July 7, 2017 .Its midnight, my son in the hospital bed woke up complaining of stomach ache. Oh no.. he may vomit again once the stomach ache persist. His cyclic vomiting syndrome may recur. I told the nurse and the doctor prescribed Relestal 10mg/5ml for stomach ache. Thanks God it works.
